* Writing tip: Draw inspiration for your writing from real-life events. *
Today, for lack of more exciting inspiration, I want to share one of my favorite life hacks: I LOVE cheap over-the-door shoe hangers with clear plastic pockets.
Last month (or was it the month before?), when I cleaned out The Closet Under the Stairs, I used a hanging shoe bag-thingy to organize office and craft supplies: markers, tape, glue sticks pens and pencils, crayons, etc. No more digging through jumbled chaos on the shelves when the grandbabies come to visit and we want to paint!
I have one on the laundry room door, too, for work gloves, mittens, scarves, toboggans, orange hunting vests, etc. And one hanging inside my closet door, where I keep belts, footies, yoga accessories, and, yes, a couple pairs of shoes.
What I love about these organizers:
- They are great for storing small items that can easily get lost on a shelf.
- No layers/piles/digging through stacks.
- I can SEE and easily access the item I need.
I’m thinking about getting an over-the-door shoe organizer for the upstairs bathroom next. Wouldn’t one of these be great for hair products, styling equipment and accessories? Now that I think about it, an over-the-door shoe hanger would work well in the pantry, too. And in the garden shed. And in the game closet. Hmmm…the possibilities are endless!
I have to admit, though, that I see absolutely no way one of these would be useful in my writing area. And, well, I need to get to work on that manuscript.
Catch you next week!
