“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” – 3 John 1:4 (English Standard Version)
I love writing. A day when I put a couple thousand words on the page (screen) is a good day.
I love spring rain. The electric greenness of the hay field when sun finally breaks through. Rainbow! Quick, before it fades, chase it!
I love lightning bugs on a moonless summer night. Dancing amid blinking fairy lights, I am a child again.
I love morning coffee in the porch swing. Birds worshiping their Creator in ecstatic Hallelujah! Sunlight spreading across standing hay, like Midas magic rippling through the grass.
I love video calls with the Loves in Japan, and handwritten letters from Ben, new poems! by Emily and terrible Dennis puns, Nate and Abby sparking in the kitchen, talking the phone batteries dead with Reuben, Thomas hugs and Carly smiles, car dancing and late-night conversations with Helen, grandbaby smiles and kisses.
But I have no greater joy – NO greater joy – than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
My heart is full today. Overflowing. And I am compelled to worship.
God is so very, very good.
