I recently finished my latest read-through of J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Fellowship of the Ring. It had been a couple of years, and I was overdue a trip to Middle Earth. I am eager for the busyness of the upcoming weekend to pass so that I can dive into The Two Towers. It grieves me to leave Frodo and Sam and their companions, while their quest is yet unfinished.
When I read Tolkien, my soul is nourished. My heart grows stronger and my thoughts more noble. Good books do that to a person, books like C. S. Lewis’s Till We Have Faces and Kate DiCamillo’s The Tale of Despereaux. These are books I enjoy reading over and over again, books I need to read over and over again!
What books do you find yourself returning to over and over again, Dear Reader? Which books feed your soul?
